Kew Newsletter - March 2025

Daniel Lewis23 Mar - 18:22

Our latest newsletter - Membership renewals now open, more indoor nets booked & please download our new club app! Get in touch if any questions.

A few weeks of sunshine and I’m sure plenty of outside edges are starting to twitch. The square is beginning to be rolled, the bar is being stocked and another season is nearly about to start.

Plenty of positive Kew news in the last few months too, on top of the great number of new players we have had joining us at winter nets!

The club would like to say congratulations to the young Shukla’s who have received offers to study at Oxford (Rishi) and Cambridge (Sameer). If nothing else, great places to keep up their cricket practice before playing back at Kew.

Congratulations to Harvey and Tersha too who got married in early March and the junior section will have another member soon with Ed and Viv expecting later this year!

Also, Kew CC Alumni Jamie Benson helped Harlequins to a fine 23-12 victory over Saracens yesterday. All our football warms-up paid off to help with those kicks!

This month’s newsletter covers:

  • Our new app - please download and sign up. Registering for the app and paying membership is mandatory to be considered for selection in any team.
  • Membership payments and role out of new membership cards.
  • Social memberships.
  • Key dates for the diary.
  • Next few weeks of Winter nets at Christ’s school, Richmond.
  • Grounds work - get in touch with Shane if any days or time in the next few weeks to support.
  • Juniors - pre season info on the way.

Please download our new app - Pitchero

As mentioned before, we will use Pitchero to manage team selections, membership and club news. This includes Senior, Social and Junior members.

Membership payments and new membership cards

Men’s Senior playing membership:

As agreed at the AGM, senior Men’s membership will be £150, the same as last year.

Membership can be paid for through the app or on the website (here). As mentioned above, players will need to have paid membership to be considered for selection.

New members will be able to play their first game without payment. But will need to purchase membership before selection for further fixtures.

Women’s playing membership:

More exciting information on Kew CC women’s team coming soon.

Our women’s players have been busy planning the season. If you are interested in finding out more before committing or interested to see how you can get involved please get in touch.

Email - women@kewcc.com .

The first season will be free for new Kew CC players.

Social membership:

Want a great place to relax in the summer, good company and some low bar prices? You don’t need to play to be part of Kew CC! For just £30 a year, social members get exclusive bar discounts (making our already cheap pints even cheaper!), and special access to pavilion hire for events.

Simply download the Pitchero Club app and search “Kew Cricket Club” and choose “Club member” and Join today and be part of the Kew CC community. See you at the bar!

Social membership can be paid for within the app or on the website (here).

Junior membership:

Can be paid for here.

April 27th will be the start of our regular Sunday morning junior sessions. More information on other activities and sessions to be circulated soon.

New membership cards:

Any membership bought this year will get access to discounted bar prices. This will be managed through new membership cards which will be given out from the first league game on the 10th of May.

Before then, a “master” card will be behind the bar. Members will still be able to access lower prices from day of membership purchase and will just need to show the bar staff proof of membership in the app before they have collected their cards.

Each card and the discount will be valid until 31st March 2026. We will share an announcement on the website and app if cards are available earlier.

Key dates for the diary:

  • Pre-season Grounds Day: Saturday 12th April, morning - to set up clubhouse and grounds for the season.

Winter nets at Christ’s school - 30th March and 6th April, 11am to 1pm.

Nets at Latymer Upper School have now finished, but we have moved to Christ’s School in Richmond (link to address) for the next two Sundays.

Please use the app to let us know if you are planning to attend. If unsure on how to get there, please get in touch.

We hope to then be netting outdoors on Kew Green mid-to-late April.

Grounds work

Shane, Kirby and Gogay have been putting great hours in to start getting the pitch ready for the season (despite the differing views on how flat they want it to be).

Please get in touch with Shane if you have any days or time in the next few weeks to support. Any time that can be spared would be really helpful.

Junior News

Our junior team have been busy planning the season and booking in the fixtures. More information to follow soon on plans for the year.

For now, if you have any questions please email kcccolts@gmail.com.
